30 Day History Challenge

Day 10. Write a four to five sentence thesis statement on the following topic: “20th Century conflict helped shape the course of history in a number of ways, including politics, economics, society, technology, mass communication, music, art, and fashion. Define the century’s pivotal conflict event and how it influenced one of the aforementioned topics.”

Excuse me while I go cry at my own inadequacy.

Ahem. Now, I shall give it a shot:

The unprecedented destruction wreaked around the world during the second World War caused changes to every aspect of human life. Complete loss of infrastructure in many European countries lead to increased social and political upheaval which lasted for decades and lead to the formation of a score of new countries. In the aftermath, fresh minds rose to the challenge of renewing civilization and art from the ruins. New world powers drove each other to greater heights of science and technology, lest another such conflict find them the losers. In spite of the atmosphere of ambition and distrust, humanity picked itself up from the ashes and looked to the horizon.

What’s that? My style is terrible? I made unpardonably broad generalizations? Do tell. And I didn’t choose a topic, did I? Therein lies the problem. But I’m not rewriting that!
